Why do an energy audit?

An energy audit is essential for both residential and commercial properties as it identifies inefficiencies that lead to high energy costs, offering significant savings. It increases comfort by optimizing heating and cooling systems, reduces environmental impact through lower energy consumption, and can boost property value with energy-efficient upgrades.

Additionally, audits help qualify for rebates and incentives, ensure compliance with building codes, extend the lifespan of equipment, and improve overall health and safety. For businesses, it enhances energy management and provides options for renewable energy, ultimately moving towards greater energy independence.

The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers interest-free financing of up to $40,000 to help homeowners make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes. Part of the larger Greener Homes Initiative, this program supports retrofits such as improved insulation, windows, doors, and renewable energy systems, aiming to lower energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. To be eligible, participants must undergo a pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, and the loan must be used for qualifying projects that improve home energy efficiency.

improve your home’s energy efficiency

The Enbridge Gas Home Efficiency Rebate program helps Ontario homeowners reduce energy costs by offering rebates for energy-efficient upgrades. After an initial home energy assessment, a registered energy advisor provides a customized list of recommended upgrades. Homeowners must complete at least two qualifying upgrades, such as insulation, windows, or air-source heat pumps, before booking a follow-up energy assessment. The program also reimburses up to $600 for assessment costs and provides rebates on eligible upgrades to improve energy efficiency.

City of Toronto Home energy loan program

Making your home more energy-efficient is one of the most impactful ways to reduce emissions and combat climate change. Through the Home Energy Loan Program (HELP), Toronto homeowners can borrow up to $125,000 to cover the costs of energy upgrades, such as air-source heat pumps, window and door replacements, insulation, air sealing, high-efficiency water heaters, and furnaces. HELP allows homeowners to finance these improvements affordably over time while accessing available rebates. Once approved, homeowners can choose their contractor and begin their renovations.
